FGUMA Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a set of voluntary actions that companies take into consideration so that their activities have positive effects on society and affirm the principles and values that govern them. These actions include both their own internal methods and processes and their relationship with other actors.

The concept of corporate social responsibility encompasses a set of business management practices, strategies, and systems that seek a new balance amongst a company’s economic, social, and environmental aspects.

The General Foundation of the University of Málaga, as a socially responsible entity, wants to actively contribute to the social, economic, and environmental betterment of Málaga’s society. With this objective, agreements have been signed with institutions such as Proyecto Hombre, Fundación ONCE, and the Fundación CUDECA as well as collaborations with other entities, including the Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche association and Animación Malacitana.

Furthermore, it has lent its support for one-off projects such as the “An NF-walker for Iván” campaign, in which the FGUMA donated one euro for each enrolment in the XV Modern Language Courses. Another one-time collaboration was with the II Female Rugby Tournament Against Cancer, an event that sought to bring visibility to the disease as well as raise awareness amongst women about the fight against this illness through rugby.

Within the framework of the 2018 UMA Summer Courses, organised by the FGUMA, four activities for charity were carried out in which funds were collected for associations and NGOs in the various locations where the seminars were held. See the news story

Likewise, in the 2019 edition of these courses, two similar activities were carried out: one in Vélez-Málaga and another in Málaga city. More information

To bring to a close the FGUMA’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Lori Meyers gave a solidarity concert entitled ‘Freeing Humanity from Fear’. It was organised in collaboration with the Cruz Roja Málaga and raised 14,000 euros for families in Málaga affected by the pandemic. See news. The success of this concert was such that in 2022 the partnership with the Cruz Roja Málaga was strengthened and a second concert was held, this time with the band León Benavente. More information. This has now become a regular event, and in September 2023 the public was able to enjoy Zahara‘s acoustic concert, an unforgettable night of emotion and solidarity that raised 30,000 euros.
