Academic and scientific relations in the Ibero-American and transatlantic framework
For the UMA and the General Foundation of the University of Málaga, Ibero-America constitutes a preferential area in its academic and scientific interests. This is evidenced by the numerous relationships it maintains in different disciplines with universities and organisations in southern and central regions of the American continent. The AMZET, from whose experience the CEIT draws, has in turn become an extensive network of study groups led by the UMA and located in different Ibero-American countries (United States, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Paraguay), together with the existing focal points in Portugal and Ireland.
The objective of the CEIT is to amass this experience and continue strengthening these important links. At the same time, it aims to create new synergies in the transatlantic framework. This would give rise to a multidirectional project, with Spain at the centre of the studies, and directed towards all areas having relations with our country in the Atlantic world, which must continue to be our main geographic and strategic reference.
The main activities for the establishment and strengthening of institutional relations in the Ibero-American and transatlantic framework are:
- The María Zambrano Centre for Transatlantic Studies UMA-ATECH
- The AMZET International Network
